Types of Vendors

Marketplace – Food vendors sell food and/or drink.

  • Healthy items are strongly encouraged.
  • We also encourage food vendors to minimize the materials that customers will have to throw away, for example by replacing single-serve condiment packages with bulk multi-serve options and using compostable plates/cups/utensils.
  • Food vendors must have a copy of their temporary restaurant license from Multnomah County Environmental Health Department at Sunday Parkways – stringent health inspections will occur. Visit www.mchealthinspect.org or call 503-988-3400 for more information.
  • If using propane, food vendors need to obtain a permit from Portland Fire & Rescue. Visit www.portlandoregon.gov/fire/76752 or call 503-823-3712.
  • Food vendors should put up a sign letting people know if they are cash only or accept card payment.
  • Food vendors should be prepared to sell food by 11am, earlier if they have breakfast items.
  • If food vendors sell out during the event, they shouldn’t leave before 4pm.

Marketplace – Non-food vendors advertise and sell non-food products and/or perform outreach. They do not sell food and/or drink.

  • Vendors can only use water and concrete weights with their tents/canopies.
  • After unloading, vendors must move their vehicles to an off-the-course street – not in front of the park.

Mobile vendors sell their product while walking or riding in a way that does not inhibit participant flow.

  • If selling food, mobile vendors must have a copy of their temporary restaurant license from Multnomah County Environmental Health Department at Sunday Parkways – stringent health inspections will occur. Visit www.mchealthinspect.org or call 503-988-3400 for more information.
  • Per the Parks’ permits, along-the-route mobile vendors are not allowed in any of the parks at any time.
  • Mobile vendors must remain one (1) block or at least 250 feet from all Marketplace (food and non-food) vendors.
  • If a mobile vendor violates the above, they will be excluded from the remainder of the event as well as the remaining 2020 Sunday Parkways.
  • Mobile vendor fee applies to each vehicle – mobile carts, bikes, etc.

The definition of a food cart/truck is "any vehicle on inflated wheels that is self-propelled, or which can be pushed or pulled down a sidewalk, street or highway, on which food is prepared, processed or which is used in selling and dispensing food to the ultimate consumer." For more info: 503-988-3400, www.mchealthinspect.org.
