Procurement Services has a Workforce Training & Hiring Program. The goal of the program is to increase the numbers of women and minorities in the construction trades through apprenticeship opportunities on City of Portland projects. The City of Portland has won the 2019 National Procurement Institute (NPI) Achievement of Excellence in Procurement (AEP) award. We are so excited -  Portland is one of only 65 cities in the United States and Canada to receive the award this year. Procurement Services has earned the AEP award for the City fourteen times total and consecutively over the past nine years; To receive the NPI AEP award the City had to demonstrate its excellence in procurement by achieving a high score on based standardized criteria.
