Hours: 20-30 hours per week, up to 6 months; flexible hours between 8am and 5pm
Pay: $11.00 per hour
*Work Location is City Offices in the St Johns neighborhood.
*Position will remain open until filled.
The Bureau of Environmental Services (BES) Work Study Intern position(s) in the Spill Prevention and Citizen Response (SPCR) and Extra Strength Sewer Charge Programs. The employee in this position will assist existing section staff with ongoing section duties and tasks. The employee may also be assigned to take the lead on specialized projects or work assignments and may be required to summarize their findings in a final report.
Description of Duties:
Perform data entry of grease trap pump out reports into a database.
Review business lists from state and county agencies and enter into City database as necessary.
Perform field verification work of the status of various businesses.
Prepare files for archiving. File content is reviewed and documents are scanned and properly identified and named according to specific convention for entry into the appropriate document storage system. Digitized files are verified to ensure quality control.
Various general office duties. Filing, mailing, data input, copy, sort and scan documents.
Work on special projects related to business sectors and environmental investigations.
Applicants are required to be actively enrolled in college and have a Federal Work-Study Aid award
Experience working with computers and standard office equipment
Ability to lift and carry boxes up to 30 lbs.
Detailed oriented with the ability to interpret and categorize materials
Ability to follow instructions and ensure compliance with instructions and standards
Ability to track projects from beginning to completion
Must have excellent organization, communication and analytic skills
Knowledge of environmental science/engineering preferred
Knowledge and/or experience with reference and records management preferred but not required
Ability to work independently
Valid Driver’s license
