The Bureau of Environmental Services (BES) Work Study Intern position in the Pollution Prevention Plan Review (P2PR) program will assist in general plan review activities, including but not limited to, property/site information research, research of Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) contaminated/hazardous waste site databases and updating TRACS accordingly, sorting, scanning and filing of plan review documents and attaching appropriate documents in TRACS, creating reports and related documents, public outreach and other program elements (to be determined). In addition, the position may attach various plan review records to the City’s TRIM archiving system in accordance with known retention requirements and bureau standards. Records may include environmental reports, figures, environmental studies, environmental investigations, technical documents, photos, point in time databases, and various other electronic and paper correspondence types.
Description of Duties:
Assist with a variety of P2PR projects pertaining to historical and active program records
Purge project files of completed projects. File contents are reviewed and non-essential documents are removed and discarded as appropriate.
Prepare files for archiving. File content is reviewed and documents are scanned and properly identified and named according to specific convention for entry in to TRIM document storage system. Digitized files are verified to ensure quality control.
Various general office duties. Filing, data input, copy, sort and scan documents.
Applicants are required to be actively enrolled in college and have a Federal Work-Study Aid award
Experience working with computers and standard office equipment
Ability to lift and carry boxes up to 30 lbs.
Ability to sit, stand, and bend for extended periods
Detailed oriented with the ability to interpret and categorize materials
Ability to follow instructions and ensure compliance with instructions and standards
Ability to track projects from beginning to completion
Must have excellent organization, communication and analytic skills
Knowledge of environmental science/engineering preferred
Knowledge and/or experience with reference and records management preferred but not required
Ability to work independently
