Learn about district-scale sustainability at EcoDistricts Summit

What is an EcoDistrict?

An EcoDistrict is a neighborhood or district with a broad commitment to accelerate neighborhood-scale sustainability. EcoDistricts commit to achieving ambitious sustainability performance goals, guiding district investments and community action, and tracking the results over time.

The EcoDistricts Summit is a 3-day conference in Portland offered from Monday, October 25 to Wednesday, October 27, 2010. The conference topics are designed to deepen public understanding of the EcoDistricts Initiative and to connect stakeholders and practitioners involved with pilot programs through annual progress updates and shared lessons in the deployment of integrated district-scale sustainability. Attendees will benefit from:

  • A forum for inspiring and activating conversations about next-generation urban sustainability at the district scale.
  • A new conversation about neighborhood sustainability best practices and how to stay informed about progress of Portland’s EcoDistrict Initiative.
  • A deeper conversation about integrated performance assessment, neighborhood leadership, green building, infrastructure, and behavior practices to reduce resource consumption, new resources and structures for project finance, and green neighborhood rating systems.
  • A place for urban sustainability practitioners working at this scale to convene.
