The future of the SW Corridor along Barbur Boulevard is taking shape! As the region plans for a light rail line from Downtown Portland to Bridgeport Village, the City of Portland is working with other jurisdictions and community partners to plan for healthy, connected, and inclusive communities in the corridor. In the future these communities will be welcoming and diverse places with a full range of housing choices, thriving business districts, connected and accessible pedestrian, bicycle and transit networks, and community services.
“To plan for a Southwest Corridor that provides complete and inclusive communities for all, we need to also listen to the voices of our neighbors most impacted by today’s racial and economic disparities.” — Mayor Ted Wheeler
One of several efforts under the SW Corridor Inclusive Communities Project.
The Southwest Corridor Inclusive Communities project will be an ongoing multi-year effort that coordinates several interrelated initiatives.
This project will provide station area planning for a new light rail line in SW Portland. Focus will be on the Ross Island Bridgehead area and nearby historic district, as well as West Portland Town Center.
