The Mixed Use Zones Project will develop new mixed use planning and zoning designations to implement the “Centers and Corridors” concepts that emerged from The Portland Plan and the Comprehensive Plan Update planning processes.
In partnership with Metro, the Powell-Division Transit and Development Project is in the process of developing a new regional transit investment that will span Southeast Portland, East Portland, and Gresham.
In conjunction with the Lents Five-Year Action Plan, the UDS created a multi-phase framework plan outlining a growth strategy for Lents Town Center. The plan explores long range solutions to improving the vitality and character of the business district.
PBOT, in partnership with BPS and ODOT are developing the Division-Midway Neighborhood Street Plan. Efforts are focused around enhancing the characteristics of the neighborhood by establishing a more connected local street and pathway network.
This web-based handbook provides ideas for creating healthier living environments for residents of multifamily rental housing properties. Its intended users include property developers, owners, managers and even residents.
The Outer Powell Blvd Conceptual Design Plan has identified safety and accessibility upgrades for pedestrians, cyclists and transit riders, while also improving the roadway for automobiles.
UDS staff worked with the project team and associated committees for over 5 years, helping to explore, develop and collaboratively produce numerous products, including new design guidelines for the project.
The UDS assisted BPS project staff and Port of Portland representatives in developing social/urban design, natural resource and economic development concepts for future growth and change around Portland International Airport.
The Cully Main Street project was a joint PBOT and BPS effort to develop a land use pattern that enables Cully Boulevard to function as a thriving Main Street and alternative street design standard to improving street connections.
Part of the SE 122nd Avenue Pilot Project team, the UDS identified opportunities to create a “20-minute neighborhood.” UDS staff explored impacts of infill development, future streetscape ideas and priority pedestrian improvements and connections.
The Hollywood Neighborhood Association sponsored a summer event series in 2010 to conceptualize and create a Hollywood Urban Park. UDS lead a Design Charrette facilitated by community leaders to explore the possibilities for three potential sites.
